May 14: Awesome Cup on Craigslist -- UPDATED (again)
This made me laugh:
![]() "Note- glass half full." Ha! It reminds me of the guy several years ago who was selling a nickel (possibly a quarter) on ebay. I think I won it for $1.25. As a bonus he included a drawing of a monkey. Update, just minutes later: The awesome cup has already been removed from craigslist. I'm not sure why, though. It didn't break any of the rules. Sometimes beauty can be so fleeting. Update, the next morning: I posted on CL that I wanted the cup. My post was removed (again, not sure why as no rules were broken), but I got this email from the cup owner: Sadly, due to overwhelming demand the red cup has been spoken for and a select few individuals are in a heated bidding war. If you are still in the market for something awesome I will be cataloging my collection within the next few weeks and everything must go. I have decided to move on to collecting more “Rad” items, as I see a future in such antiques that Awesome could never offer despite my overwhelming love for the genre.Too funny. May 13: Tweet tweet -- Updated
So, I've started using twitter. I'm not sure exactly why, though. It's just something I felt I should try. I've added a sidebar item showing my 5 most recent tweets (they're called tweets, right?).
If anyone has any further insight as to why I'm doing this, please post a comment. I think Rrrob & I discussed it, but I think I still don't quite get it. Anyway, if you want to follow me, here you go. I'll post again if I figure anything out. Update 5/14: If you're not a twitterer yourself, you can follow me with my twitter rss feed. May 6: D.C. earthquake
How weird:
Small Earthquake Felt in D.C. and Northern Virginia Apparently, we had a honest-to-goodness earthquake. Did anyone feel it? Apr 7: Walking while working...again!
At first, I didn't think I was going to be able to, but after mentioning the idea around and getting amused-but-positive feedback, I'm now walking at work again. I'm in a cubicle, but I'm kind of stuck back in a corner. So there's really only one person who can hear the treadmill and he said he didn't mind since he usually wears headphones anyway.
My setup is basically the same: same treadmill with keyboard, monitor and trackball on a raised desk. The cube is furnished with this modular furniture that attaches to the wall, so I just had to attach the main desk at the correct height. The one main difference is my cooling setup. Before, I had two, sometimes three, fans blowing on me as I walked. Here, the entire building is on raised floors with the air conditioning being pumped under the whole floor and then into the office via vents in the floor tiles. To keep me cool now, I've just found a couple extra vented tiles and put one on either side of the treadmill, blowing cold air on me on both sides. I've found that if I'm not walking I actually need to cover one of them up or I get really cold. In addition to walking, I'm trying to get back into eating better. Basically, I'm just going back to what I outlined in this post way back when. Mar 28: my (latest) favorite t-shirt
Blog note: I've added a t-shirt category since that's all I blog about anymore. At some point, I'll go back and add the older shirt-related entries to it. -ben
In the comments, someone asked if the artist, Skaght, was the same Skaght from Psycho Reindeer. Turns out that it is. So, I checked out Psycho Reindeer and found my (latest) favorite t-shirt. Behold, PAC-BONES! ![]() I want this shirt more than I've wanted anything before...ever. Update 2008/03/28 11:42: Zombie Garden won the derby and then sold out of all 1500 shirts by 7:30 this morning.
